In the Understanding Minting section we briefly talked about the private and public metadata as well as how Cargo secures files associated with a token. We will talk more about these topics and how they relate to certification and ownership on this page.
Cargo takes ERC-721 tokens further by securely storing any file associated with that token in an encrypted storage space and only allows the token owner to download the file(s) and the private metadata associated with the token. Cargo provides an endpoint (accessible via Cargo JS, or the Cargo Dashboard) to allow a token owner to download the secured file(s) associated with the token. By providing a signature to the endpoint we can verify that it is the token owner who is unlocking the files.
